I have not treated myself to a “new” cell phone since the iPhone 3G. I always bought slightly used devices or took hand me dow ns. I’ve always had a hard time swallowing the increasing prices of the phones I want, and there is no fucking way I’m making payments on a phone.
I have had a second hand iPhone 7 for about two years. I have replaced the battery twice (once when I first got it), and the screen is a little scratched but it is otherwise fine. However, I now have a child, a classic BMW, and a bunch of animals...So I’m trying to take some PICS. Which is the only real reason I wanted the phone. So last week when I was in our weekly meeting with my boss, I was like “can I get a phone?”, to which he said “yeah and you don’t have to ask me stuff like that, lol”
So I quickly ordered an iPhone 11 pro space grey 256gb! I just got it and it’s neat! However data transition is so good, and innovation has slowed a good bit when it comes to phones. So I had it setup and logged back into all of my accounts in an hour or so...Now I have the same phone on much newer nicer hardware...
Anyway the camera is super good! The weather is crappy and my cars are dirty or I’d show ya. Hopefully soon.

My coworker just got an 11 and likes it. I’m personally indifferent to my XS.

Way to go on the pickup! My fiance just got the base 11, and the camera is light years ahead of my 6S. I’m curious how easy it will be for people to use the THREE different camera modes. I think I’ve used the panorama feature on my phone once or twice, the rest is regular photos. I’ll probably shop for an 11 this holiday season. But like you, I also don’t like the phone payments.

That’s a nice upgrade ! Enjoy it.
I don’t like making payments on a phone and I don’t like being locked in a contr act. I started buying them outright and using a prepaid plan back when I got my iPhone 6. Used that for 3 years and upgraded to an iPhone X. It is still a great phone and I think I can get another 2 years out of it before I get the itch to upgrade.

Yeah, if you’ve already got a buttonless phone, it’s not a big deal. It’s a lot quicker than my 7 doing just about anything.

I just ordered a plain-jane iPhone 11 this morning to replace my old-ass iPhone 6, which was on its second battery, GPS antennae inop and I swear the phone antennae diminished too.

No green, no can like! Kidding that’s a nice choice and even better when work picks up the bill.
I looked at the Pro last week when my X had it’s screen replaced, but I just can’t justify getting back on payments for it. Although the new camera’s are very tempting.

Thanks! I had a 6s or 7 since for the past few years. So this is a large upgrade. Yea the contracts are garbage, however work pays for mine. So I’m not complaining.

I am very happy with my new potato (LG G6) so far as well. Not ecstatic about my new cell service (t mobile) but at least its cheaper than my old plan and gives me more data. I will see how long I am willing to deal with spotty service in places. Gotta go two months at least before I can unlock my phone.
Loving the pictures I am getting for how little I spent! It is a 1000X improvement over the usual budget phones I have dealt with.

Lol I thought long and hard about the green. Green is my favorite color, and it almost matches my 02. However I like my electronics black with a matte finish if possible.
Agree, if work hadn’t bought this for me I’d be rocking that iPhone 7 until one of the X’s came up second hand from one of the higher ups.

Works great for the dogs too! Both are brindle with black faces so getting a good pic indoors is difficult. Particularly of the Mastiff with her melty face.

I honestly never thought I would see an iPhone 8. However we have one guy that wouldn’t give up the home button. I haven’t missed it.

Sweet. I went with the XR instead because of money. In addition to the new cameras, the most noticeable thing on the 11 is the OLED screen. It makes a difference in seeing the white and black in your pics.

I would never go to a CDMA carrier, that would be just silly to me since my phone could never work outside of the US with another sim card in that case. And then I would never pay Verizon prices either. So its only AT&T or Tmobile as my options, along with all of the subsidaries under them. I have had straight talk (on at&t sim) for a while and found that to be pretty good service, at least as good as anyone else with at&t. But $10 a month savings might be worth it since its not like tmobile is bad. Just nitpicking about certain places having poor reception. But data speeds when I am connected seem at least as good if not better.
